However necessary is it to have a top computer. Should I just trade mine and get a laptop?

about Desktop Computer Asked by notright…:
How necessary is it to have a desktop computer. Should I just sell mine and get a laptop?

The NUMBER 1 answer:
Desktops make someone some advantages over laptops.

1.) More storage space; you can fit a huge amount of hard disk storage in even a small desktop case.

2.) Larger screen; desktops can accomodate any scope display, laptops are really cramped and frustrating, especially when you need to swap betwixt multiple undo windows.

3.) More than comfortable keyboard and mouse; There’s zero comparison really between the two, a decent ergonomic device is comfortable to use, against cramped often poorly designed laptop keypads.

4.) Faster notebook and graphics; desktops are only genuinely limited by the compatibility of your existing hardware, laptops can only go so far due to the heat generated by faster processors and design limitations.

5.) Desktops are far more upgradeable; you can add any thing you like to a desktop, laptops are very limited and upgrades are generally more than expensive.

6.) Ergonomics; it’s common to adopy a really unhealthy seated position when using a laptop, you tend to sit in a prissy seat astatine a more sensible point when using a desktop.

Hence I guess I’m in favour of keeping the top side.

Why not go for a cheaper end of the line laptop beside a not truthful great screen and dock it to a your existing display (especially if it’s a flat panel) when needed using the larger display and an external device and mouse. That is what I do most of the time, although we do have a both. There is just no way I could work on a small laptop display all the time it would drive me crazy.

Had you considered buying a bureau that’s easier to move and re-assemble. There are some really well designed minimal desks out at hand designed for a ‘hot desking’ environment, so totally mobile. I find the whole desk moving thing a real pain in the butt also.
