Memory box for my Brother-in-Law

Memory box for my Brother in LawUSB 3.0 Drive Case Review

My Brother-in-Law passed away suddenly and my sister asked if I would make a box for the rest. I position this mutually in 2 days. Because of the short example carcass, some of the features were afterthoughts and not executed as fine as I would enjoy liked. There are a lot of memorys in the wood itself, most of it has family connections, any from the farm we grew up on, or given to me past my Brother-in-Law.

I used box joints for the Black Walnut body, transitioned to joint corners on the bottom. The top is Butternut. I thought it would be better to not have any end particle connected the edges truthful cut off the Butternut into triangles and pasted up the lid you see. It has a raised panel chic cut on the top (first juncture I’ve done that, came out good) so the edges are not 3/4 gluey. I cut a groove around the bottom fringe of the eyelid to fit complete the container article, this is visible in the later photo. The eyelid handle and feet (afterthought) are made from Spalted Oak. After discussing with my sister, I added an interior partition so she could keep remains in the bottom and photos etc. above. This was done after the sides were glued up, I used a half inch trim router bit next to a 3/8 inch pose to cut the internal ledge. The partition is a bit of salvaged wood veneer plyboard I had on hand and in use because it was gaunt . You can see the partition and the thin ledge in the second photo. The bottom of the box is Cherry from the family farm.

Finish is four coats of Watco raw and some paste lipid.

A self-driving car has taken to the road in Germany, within a hands-free exam drive on the busy streets of Berlin. The vehicle made its way through traffic lights and intersections, but had a expressly trained operator primed to take over just within case.

Pulling out onto the streets of Berlin – this car can drive itself.

With notable permission from traffic authorities, the car, the brainchild of the Berlin Free University made its debut public voyage, joining the more conventional vehicles on Berlin’s built-up streets.

The presence of Tinosch Ganjineh, a specially trained safety officer At the wheel, just in case, was the single condition.

He hands over control to the computer and the car does the rest.

The set-up relies on a series of sensors, scanners and cameras that devise AN electronic picture of the road ahead that the car’s computer can assess As it drives, controlling direction and speed.

[Tinosch Ganjineh, Road Condition Car Tester]:
“If one of the systems malfunctions, ane of the sensors, for example, then I can step in and take back the controls.”

The car’s been under development all for cardinal years – and tested on top of a disused airfield.

Nowadays, Paul Rojas, professor of artificial intelligence At the university, says it’s taken a developmental step forward, offering new, grassy modes of transport – as either an autonomous taxi or the ultimate car-sharing vehicle.

[Professor Paul Rojas, Berlin Free University]:
“Car-sharing is still a bit inconvenient for some race because they have to be the station or the automobile park to pick up the coup

Review of the Ridgid Universal Digital Miter Gauge

This is the Ridgid Universal Digital Miter Gauge.

Lets start with the Universal part. The miter slot bar has a clever lobed t-slot washer that quickly adjusts and locks to the width of any t-slot lower trough. If your miter track is just plain square, then it rotates and locks in flush. They even threw in an extra bar for the non-standard undersized slots that are used on many table top machines. I believe it is truly universal and well-designed.

The head unit attaches to a fairly beefy aluminum fence with two slots on front and back faces, then one on top and bottom. Of course one end (blade side) is mitered. The head / control unit requires two AAA batteries and powers up instantly. There is a battery status gauge so you’ll know before the batteries are depleted. Another press on the button and the large LCD numerals with blue back-lighting will flip upside down.

Setup was very quick with a square as reference of the fence to the miter slot of the table, then lock into place and depress the other button for 3 seconds and it self-zeroes. If you turn it off (by pressing the power button for 5 seconds duration), move the angle of the fence, then turn the unit back on… it still knows that you have moved it so re-calibration is not necessary. How day do dat ? The unit also will re-set zero at any position (not just at 90) if you want it to. Its miter and blade angle ranges are both +50 to -50 degrees.

Another feature is an audible click as you move the angle with the unit on. When going from 45 to 22.5, for instance you can hear a click for each tenth of a degree as you fine tune the setting. I like that.

Also packaged is an all aluminum flip stop gauge, an aluminum face stop gauge, and a micro adjust gauge made of aluminum and brass. All of these will work in any of the unit’s fence grooves AND in the grooves of other machines’ fences that have standard 1/4 – 20 grooves. Cool !

The top of the handle has a slot to hold the hex wrench securely and totally out of the way, yet right there when you need it. Smooth move that. You can see it in the 2nd picture above.

The unit also includes a magnetic blade attachment for table saws that bevel either right or left. It will allow you to tilt your blade to your exact desired bevel within a tenth of a degree. This feature will come in handy.

Finally, if you’re like me and take the board you just cut to another machine or for assembly, but leave the power on at the digital miter gauge, it automatically turns off when there is no movement for 5 minutes.

It has a three (3) year warranty and a 90 day satisfaction guarantee that gives you a full refund or exchange (your choice) if you are dissatisfied for any reason.

I give it 5 stars. It’s about $90, built well and full-featured in a very usable way. I would recommend this product to a friend.

Thanks for stopping in.

DG
